Bulk Carriers (P.E.I.) Limited is a family-owned and operated long-haul refrigerated transport company that has operated on PEI since 1973.

They carry customers’ freight all across North America, picking up from farms and delivering to distribution warehouses and directly to stores as well.

Truck Driver shortage

Mike Schut, Vice-President of Human Resources, says the current Truck Driver shortage across North America is getting larger. “We have an aging demographic of Truck Drivers, and they are retiring, rightfully so. There are not enough Drivers coming into the industry.

“We encourage people who are interested in truck driving to talk to a truck driving school and get their license. Bulk Carriers offers on-the-job training.

“The school requires about 100 hours of training, and these hours can be done with our company and a trained coach. The intent is to have student drivers become permanent employees of Bulk Carriers once they complete the training and get their license.”
