Provincial Credit Union is the largest credit union in Atlantic Canada, with $1.27 billion in assets and 165 employees serving approximately 35,000 members in 10 branch locations across PEI.
The credit union system on PEI has grown tremendously over the past number of years, and the “new” Provincial Credit Union is the result of the amalgamation of four credit unions in the fall of 2021 – Évangéline-Central, Malpeque Bay, Provincial and Tignish.
Currently, the Charlottetown branch is undergoing an expansion to provide a new retail banking area for its members.
Career opportunities include a variety of management, administrative, member-facing, and specialized roles across departments and branches at Provincial Credit Union, such as Member Services Representative, Financial Services Officer, and Account Manager.

The PCU Intern Program offers recent graduates a one-year paid internship to experience all areas of the business through a multi-department rotation with the opportunity of a full-time role after completion. Interns will develop a strong understanding of the Provincial Credit Union’s big picture and how each department contributes to the success of the organization.
There is also an Emerging Leaders Program. “One-third of our staff is nearing retirement within five to 10 years,” says Linda. “There has been and will be great opportunities for career advancement.”

Workplace culture
“We completed a survey with our employees after our amalgamation last year and received a lot of positive feedback,” Linda says. “Many staff said it is a great place to work and that it has a professional atmosphere. Many were impressed with what we do for the health and wellness of the employees.
“We put people first – our members, staff, and board of directors. We work as a team where integrity and being accountable is important to us. We are always looking at ways to continually improve with innovative ideas.”
