Quilting B & More in Charlottetown is a locally owned and operated retail store has been in business for almost 30 years. It carries products used in quilting, sewing and hand stitching arts. They also carry five major sewing machine brands, and servicing of these machines is done on site.
“We offer a wide variety of sewing and quilting classes and have a very large, loyal customer base,” says Suzanne Lane, Owner.
Hiring needs
They are looking to hire a full-time Marketing Manager and a part-time Customer Service Representative with a focus on merchandising.
Experience and skills needed
Marketing Manager: “This is a new role for this store,” says Suzanne. “We are looking for someone with a business degree or marketing experience and knowledge.” They should also have knowledge in the use of social media platforms, creative ideas, be technology proficient, and desire to learn the operational strategies of a small business. Knowledge of sewing and/or quilting would be beneficial.
This full-time position is for 37 hours/week, 8:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday.
Duties: Bring new merchandise into the store and set it up in the computerized inventory system. Plan marketing campaigns, work with current advertising partners, execute marketing campaigns with the five sewing machine brands, promote current products and new arrivals, sewing and quilting classes, store events such as the annual fall quilting retreat and sales during the year. Promote educational materials from the sewing machine companies, take ownership of the weekly newsletter. Post on social media using Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and the website, which now offers online shopping.
Customer Service Representative: This person should have knowledge of sewing and/or quilting and be technologically proficient, with knowledge of sewing machine operation, retail sales experience, and experience using a POS system.
This part-time position is for a minimum of three shifts per week with the potential for more.
Training and/or mentorship offered
The successful applicant can expect a very supportive training process during the first three months of employment. They will be expected to work independently after the training period ends.
They do hire international students and recent graduates.
