Fiber Connections located at Slemon Park is an innovative manufacturer of custom active and passive optical connectivity and media conversion solutions.

They offer a complete line of fiber optic cable assemblies, fiber management solutions, media conversion, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) network hardware.

The company has been in operation on PEI for 22 years and currently has 62 staff. Presently, they operate during daytime hours Monday to Friday, and all work is done on site.

Hiring needs

The company is growing and is considering expanding the facility because of the demand for their products. They are looking to fill 10 more positions. They are currently seeking Production Team members on the manufacturing line.

Debbie Banks, Vice-President of Operations, says new staff will be part of a team responsible for producing high quality fiber optic cable assemblies and PoE network hardware.

“Currently, several different roles are available on the production floor. Candidates need to be punctual and reliable and must be able to lift 23 kg (50 lb.), No experience is necessary. We will provide the training.”

They are also hiring an Inside Sales Representative. Job duties include the following:

• Working with the sales team, you will provide excellent customer service
• Propose and quote products and solutions to customers
• Enter orders into the company’s systems and expedite if necessary
• Track opportunities and activities using the Salesforce software
• Liaise with the production and engineering teams and follow up on projects to ensure customer satisfaction and manage incremental sales

“The salary is to be negotiated and there are opportunities for advancement.

“For the past few years, finding staff has been a challenge,” says Debbie. “We are flexible, and new staff can be shifted to various roles until they find their fit. Working conditions are clean and free from noise.

“The current starting rate with our production team is $14.20 per hour, plus vacation pay. After a six-month probation period, we offer a comprehensive benefits program that is 100 percent paid by the company.
