Financial services company is hiring

May 25, 2022

Invesco

by Heidi Riley

Invesco is a global asset management organization that operates in 26 countries world-wide. Globally, there are about 9,000 employees. The company employs about 500 Islanders at their PEI office.

“Here in Charlottetown, we often recruit for Client Relations roles, which are entry-level positions,” says Joseph Ferrari, Manager, Talent Acquisition. “Within that area, there are Client Servicing and Operational roles, which involve working over the phone assisting clients and financial advisors.

“We also offer several roles in the technology area, from entry-level Support Analyst to highly specialized Engineering positions. We are looking to ramp up our Information Security team, and we are constantly hiring for various levels within information security. Within IT, there are roles in cyber security, information security, and digital security.

“As an organization, we are very proactive in hiring for positions that we know could avoid potential cyber threats to the organization.”

Advancing within the organization

“Invesco puts fantastic efforts into the training and development of our employees. We have had several employees evolve their careers internally. Many employees joined our Client Relations/Client Services teams and have since moved into many other departments and have been successful doing so,” says Joseph. “Invesco is truly an employer that cares about the betterment of our employees.

“We are a company that provides opportunities to learn and to expand upon your knowledge from an educational standpoint.”

Difficult jobs to fill

“Technology roles continue to be an area we are looking to evolve here on the Island. Technology professionals are not as readily available as they are in other markets, but we are working to help train individuals and build their skillsets, learning on the job, and partnering with seasoned employees. We also provide tuition support, so that people can become qualified in certain areas.

“In terms of talent acquisition, we are looking to build relationships with Holland College and UPEI to help develop individuals early in their careers, and for Invesco to be an employer of choice.”

Benefits of working at Invesco

  • Competitive compensation
  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Retirement planning
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • Income protection
  • Life Insurance
  • Parental leave
  • Work-life programs
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Study support
  • Career development

Hiring process

“We are streamlining our application process, making it more concise and shorter. We introduced several interviewers to the hiring process because it gives individuals an opportunity to get direct insight into the organization. Applicants get to meet people they will be working with, connecting to see how the culture is, truly embracing who Invesco is through our diverse employees.”
